Lori Absher is the owner and creative director of Lori By Design, LLC that focuses on creating visual stories through strategic branding and implementation that unify the business or organization, simplify the message and amplify the results. She has been an active member of the Rotary Club of Cape Henry in Virginia Beach for the past 4 and a half years serving on the board as public relations director, web designer, photographer and social media communicator. She continues the Rotary principle of service above self as marketing director for the Oyster Crush Charity Fundraiser supporting local charities that through rebranding repurposed it’s community outreach attracting new club members, event sponsors and media recognition including District and Rotary International. Prior to Rotary board governance, she served on the board to the M. E. Cox Center for Elder Day Care in Virginia Beach as graphic and web designer.
Lori By Design, LLC has created work for a wide range of clients including the United States Navy and Marine Corps with notable projects to include Personal Financial Management Curriculum and Sexual Assault Prevention and Response specifically for each branch, CNIC Annual Reports plus other key focus projects. She currently works with clients in B2B, B2C and nonprofit visually branding creative websites, print collateral, social media and trade show graphics.
Lori attended Radford University pursuing a marketing and communications degree for a retail buyer position that materialized before graduating. As a chain department store buyer with Belk/Leggett Sores Inc. for 8 years, her areas of responsibility grew and flourished as did store margins though key target buying, special events and group buying for Belk Store Services in New York.
Later returning to school at Tidewater Community College with the intent of finishing her degree in art and design, she graduated with highest honors and was awarded Excellence in Expressive Content. Accepting a position with VistaGraphics, Inc. starting as a junior designer, she went on to senior design and creative director for Visitors Guide magazines promoting regional tourism and separately for CVB and ACVA annual fulfillment publications and collateral.
Lori is a native of Hampton Roads and life-long resident of Virginia Beach. As an intensely passionate creative, she continually seeks new growth opportunities both personally and professionally in everything she does helping business and nonprofits share their unique story visually.
